Economy and Society: an interesting cocktail with a dash of surprises
IoD Oxfordshire’s first meeting in 2008 will be a networking breakfast with guest speaker, Dr Jean Mitchell, Executive Director of the Oxfordshire Economic Partnership, who will present an overview of Oxfordshire’s economy and society. The many successes are highly visible: low unemployment, the growth of the universities, expansion in the high-technology sector, etc. Our county, however, has obvious problems in transport and housing and less obviously mediocrity in education, skills and training. It also has some pockets of real deprivation – one area is in the bottom 1% in England!
Venue: Oxford Spires Hotel, Abingdon Road, Oxford Cost: £30 members and guests/£35 non-members
